I remember the first time I drank a dirty chai latte. I was running errands with my roommate at the time and we needed a little pick-me-up from a coffee shop. As I browsed the menu, I was indecisive what I wanted to order. So she, like the influential person she is, ordered two dirty chai lattes for us. I wasn’t sure what I was getting, but I was open to trying new things, so I didn’t object.

The first sip was absolutely delicious. The chai tea and the frothed milk mingled together perfectly and the shot of expresso gave me just enough caffeine. I’ve been addicted ever since.

Since that day, nearly three years ago, I’ve had a lot of dirty chai’s. Some delicious, some average, some I drank in about five sips, and some I savored for over an hour. Dirty chai’s are typically my go to nowadays when I go to a coffee shop. It’s usually pretty hard to mess them up – although I’ve had a couple that I was less than pleased with.

Since, I’m living in a new city that I haven’t explored a lot yet, I’ve decided to branch out and try a dirty chai from new coffee shops every so often. I plan to rate, compare, critique and savor these delicious drinks until I can say for certain that I have found the best dirty chai.

The first dirty chai in my quest for the best was from The Cookery. And let me just say, I think this dirty chai is going to be hard to beat. It was amazing. The ratio of frothed milk, expresso, and chai was perfect. The flavor was delicious.

I’m gonna have to give this dirty chai a solid 9/10. It was incredible. I wish there had been more of it.

Not to mention, the atmosphere in The Cookery was so wholesome – with large wooden tables, prayer memos tapped to the walls, and relaxing music streaming through the speakers. Evidentially, the space is used as a church every Friday night.

Overall, the dirty chai from The Cookery is high on my list and I have a feeling I’ll be back there again soon.
