I’m realizing that life is about how we overcome setbacks. It’s easy to to get frustrated and overwhelmed and instinctively ask, “why is this happening to me? Why am I in this situation?”

We rarely ask ourselves what can we learn from this. We hardly ever ask how this tough season of life is better equipping us. But we need to start.

It’s challenging to keep this mindset. The world has a mischievous way of trying to knock us down, and if we take our eyes off the big picture – off the grand scheme of things, it’s easy to forget how temporary everything really is. We become so bogged down by our current catastrophes that we forget to find the beauty of the lesson. We grit our teeth and brace ourselves, while jumping from one crisis to another, and we so often forget to process how much we grow while handling difficult situations.

So next time instead of wailing at the moon, “why am I suffering through this?” let’s calmly ask the sun, “what am I supposed to learn through this difficult season?”
